Dec. 4 Luke 20:41-21:4 Dena Roper
The Widow’s Offering
1 HE looked up and saw rich people putting their gifts into the treasury;
2 he also saw a poor widow put in two small copper coins.
3 He said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them;
4 for all of them have contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in all she had to live on.”
I find the story of the widow an example of kindness and love. I have seen many people exhibit this. From the little old lady at church who needs help herself sharing the little bit she has to our unhoused neighbors and how they help each other and share. I think the biggest lesson is that we should always err on the side of loving and helping one another and if it stretches our comfort zones, that’s not a bad thing whether talking about money or skills or excess stuff. Love is the best!
Prayer
Lord, I pray for those who love others so much they give all they can. Please help me to see ways to share love and kindness with others. Amen
