When you show up or log in for worship this Sunday (8/22/2021), don’t forget to bring your school bag, or your work bag, or your diaper bag, or your gym bag, or whatever bag you wanna bring for the Blessing of the Backpacks. We will pray over our learning and our laboring and ask God to be present with us throughout the year.
After months of socially distancing, worshiping online, gathering outside in small groups with masks, and as these vaccines are starting to get out to the people, the Session of Oak Hill Presbyterian Church has voted to slowly and safely start resuming in-person gatherings as of June 2021.
Limited re-opening of the building began in June. Small groups of 15 or less can meet inside the building with masks and distancing recommended. Virtual options are still available to groups who would prefer to meet online.
We will resume indoor in-person worship in July.Knowing that not everyone has access to the vaccine (including young children) and that our community vaccination rate is still low, we will ask all in-person worship participants to wear masks. The Worship and Christian Ed Committee will work out details and logistics to ensure we have space for social distancing, safety for liturgists and worship leaders, and whatever is necessary to continue offering an online option for those who will choose to continue worshiping online. We will not have congregational singing inside the building at this time, but Pastor Erin and Music Minister Susan will continue to research this issue. We will not have a time of fellowship after worship inside the building, but will encourage the congregation to visit and chat outside after worship. Our first worship service back inside the sanctuary will be on Sunday, July 4, and it will include communion and quite a lot of joy.
If you have questions or suggestions about our return to in-person worship, please reach out to one of the members of Session or Pastor Erin.
August 2021 Update We are paying close attention to the data following the uptick in cases in Missouri over the summer. For now, we are continuing to meet in-person with masks and distancing in the sanctuary. We have not returned to fellowship inside the building. The Session will continue to monitor the situation and will make changes if and when necessary.
Join us for worship in-person, outside this Sunday, June 13th at 10:30 a.m.!
Bring your own camp chair, and bring a mask, too. We’ll gather on the front steps and front lawn of the church. We’ll have worship with some fun music, cold waters, and we’ll see about providing a little more shade this week.

Second Sunday of Easter – Holy Humor Sunday – 4/19/2020
At Oak Hill we have a recent tradition of celebrating Holy Humor each Second Sunday of Easter. That means hats and costumes and bad jokes and much silliness. We laugh together and take great joy in the trick God played on the world, and we allow ourselves to be a bit goofy after all the heaviness of Holy Week. So, we’re going to give Holy Humor Zoom a big virtual try! We encourage you to dress up or dress silly or come up with some hilarious (and church appropriate) Zoom background and join us for worship at 10:30. You can download the worship bulletin here:
Easter Sunday – 10:30 a.m. We will gather online for Zoom worship (Meeting ID: 768 992 383) at 10:30 a.m. We will have special music and virtual communion, so please be sure to have your own communion elements at home and ready. This means bread and juice, or anything related to bread an juice- a cracker, some wine, whatever you have at home. Maybe pick a few flowers from your garden so we can remember flowering the cross in the sanctuary. Of course, we would love to see your homemade Easter bonnet, or your finest Easter pajamas!
This is the worship bulletin and a song sheet for Easter Sunday Worship: (We heard that the music as it is linked in the bulletin has very small type which makes it hard to read, so Pastor Erin just typed the lyrics only on this song sheet)
We are not holding sunrise service this year. There will be a very special Easter morning video posted to our social media pages early Easter morning. For those who love sunrise worship, here is a sunrise liturgy packet you can print and read to worship on your own at sunrise, from our friends at A Sanctified Art.
For those who love to color, here is a link for a free coloring poster from our friends at Illustrated Ministries that you can print out in four pages, then tape together and color for an incredible Allelu… (oops! I better not say it yet). This would be fun to work on during worship, even!
Maundy Thursday – 6:00 p.m. A Zoom Dinner Party, with Communion. We’ll have fellowship, prayers, scripture, and our first try at virtual communion. Make your own dinner, and gather up some bread and juice for at-home communion. Use the regular Sunday Worship Zoom Meeting ID to log in and join us: 768 992 383.
Good Friday – We’re going to take a break from Zoom. Click here for our at-home, on-your-own worship packet. Also, on that same page, we’ve posted links to a few other online worship services with other churches, in case you still want a worship service experience.
Holy Saturday – Holding Vigil – At Oak Hill we have a tradition of folks signing up to hold vigil and keep watch in the sanctuary on Holy Saturday. Click here for a packet you can to download and use to hold vigil in your own space at home.
WORSHIP- April 5, 2020 – PALM SUNDAY! This Sunday we’ll gather together again online using Zoom. There are more details below on how to set up a Zoom account and join us.
Worship begins at 10:30 a.m. Join Zoom Meeting: Oak Hill Worship: https://zoom.us/j/768992383 Meeting ID: 768 992 383 Call in by phone: 312 626 6799
This Sunday we will worship together online via Zoom. You will need to go to www.zoom.us to sign up for a free Zoom account. Please do this before Sunday morning. You’ll want to use a computer or device that has a camera and a mic. If you don’t have those, you can always call in on the phone to listen in, but you won’t be able to see people’s faces. Once you have the app, and you sign in, you will click JOIN MEETING and enter the Meeting ID below.
When everyone joins the meeting, I will have
your microphones muted, so people won’t be able to hear you. As the worship
services goes on, I will unmute people’s mics and we’ll be able to interact
some. There is also a “chat” feature on the app, but just know… we can ALL see what
you’re chatting about there!
At 10:30, before we begin worship, I will talk
everyone through a few logistics so we can participate well together. We are
aware that many people will be using Zoom for the first time, and there will be
plenty of grace offered. Oak Hill is a congregation pretty good at trying new
things. Let’s give this a try and see how it goes.

WORSHIP – March 15, 2020 Due to coronavirus precautions, we decided not to gather together for worship in-person, in the sanctuary today (3/15/2020), but we did put together this 16-minute worship video, that you can watch at home, so that we still might worship together.
Friends, it’s no fun being apart from one another in this time. We promise to do all that we can to keep us connected to one another and to God, while we also work together to keep our community safe and healthy.
Peace be with you, today and always.
