Two New Adult Classes

New Classes for the New Year!

We’re about to begin TWO new series in Thursday Bible Study and Adult Sunday School classes!

On Thursday evenings, beginning February 1, we will start reading The Rapture Exposed, by Dr. Barbara Rossing. This book explores the relatively recent development of the concept of the rapture, and the ways we think and talk about God, creation, and the end of time. We’ll read about a chapter a week and discuss some of the main points on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m.

On Sundays, beginning February 4, the adult Sunday School class will begin studying the Gospel of Mark using the book Say to This Mountain, by Ched Myers. Sundays at 9:30 a.m. in the Theleos Room.  We will be purchasing the books for these classes this week, so please contact the church office if you would like to reserve a copy.

Service as Worship Service

Join us on Sunday 1/14 for our semi-annual Service as Worship Service. We’ll gather in the Sanctuary for a brief prayer and song and then head downstairs to pack sack lunches, socks and hand-warmers, casseroles, write letters to elected officials, and so much more. Join us as we work and serve and fellowship together as worship to our Lord!

MLK Day Youth Service and Learning Blitz

Middle and High School Students and their friends are invited to join us for a DAY ON, not a day off, at our Third Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Youth Service and Learning Blitz.
We’ll meet at 9am at the church, get ourselves introduced and organized, then go out and serve in the community, learn in the community, and finish off with some Foosball fun. We’ll provide the lunch, and the work, and the Human Foosballin’, all you need to do is show up. Adult volunteers will be glad to sign forms for school volunteer hours as necessary. Come and join us! Please contact the church office with any questions or to RSVP.

Christmas Eve

We will gather for Brunch Worship on Christmas Eve morning at 10:30 to celebrate the Fourth Sunday in Advent. Join us for food, fellowship, carols, and a study led by the Rev. Dr. Alan Meyers.

Then, at 6:30pm we’ll meet in the sanctuary for our Christmas Eve service of Lessons and Carols, followed by a potluck feast!

Come and join us for Christmas!

Longest Night Worship

If you need a space to be still, to be sad, to cry out, to grieve, or just be…..

Our Longest Night service will be a worship time set aside for remembrance, lament, grieving, and hoping, where we will gather and pray that God might be with us, even in our longest nights.

All are invited to join us.

Fall Christian Education

We are well into fall and well into our classes here at Oak Hill, but we are always inviting new folks to join in the conversation.

Sundays at 9:30 a.m. – Christian Education for All Ages
The Adult Sunday School class meets in the Theleos Room on the lower level. We are currently working through a Sparkhouse study on Spiritual Practices, facilitated by Pastor Erin. In November we’ll begin a new series digging deeper into the Reformation, in celebration of #Reformation500, with Pastor Korla.
The Childrens’ Sunday School class meets in the Children’s Church Room and is spending this year learning through the lectionary, with a curriculum from Feasting on the Word. Lisa Thompson and Sara Gibson lead this class.

Wednedays at 11:00 a.m. – Wednesday Bible Study
The Wednesday Bible Study Class is reading Dr. John Goldingay’s 1&2 Kings for Everyone. Pastor Erin then leads the discussion as we work through the entire books of 1st and 2nd Kings.

Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. – Thursday Night Bible Study
Pastor Korla is teaching a class on the Canonization of the Bible. Join us as we look at how the books in the bible were collected and edited and shifted and compiled.

We are also starting up a Youth Confirmation Class and have two different book clubs meeting monthly. There is something for everyone at Oak Hill!

Blessing of the Animals POSTPONED!

If your pet was planning to come to Oak Hill Presbyterian today for our Blessing of the Animals, please tell them that we’re postponing the service to NEXT Sunday, due to weather. We don’t want anyone’s fur/feathers/scales all messed up by this rain. Stay inside, drink some tea, and snuggle on the couch with your human friends. We’ll see you wonderful four-legged, mult-finned, or double-winged friends next Sunday (10/29) at 2pm for blessings and treats!
