4th sunday after epiphany

Donna Cook will be leading the Time for Growing Disciples and Pastor Alan will be leading other parts of the service.

Speaking of love; the Evangelism and Membership Committee is “Calling all artists”! Our new art wall theme is “Share Your Hearts”! Submit your Valentine art work (or pick up a blank canvas) in the newly constructed yellow box next to the Art Wall. We will then hang them for everyone to enjoy.

The Rev. Brenda Booth, Executive Director of Isaiah 58 Ministries, will be leading us in worship on Sunday, January 16, 2022. We are worshiping virtually through February 6, at which time the Session will evaluate the status of the pandemic in our community. We hope to return to in-person /hybrid worship soon.

The Baptism of the Lord

Ruling Elder Josh Smith will be leading us in worship this Sunday. Josh will be leading our Time for Growing Disciples and preaching the Sermon. The word is that other exciting events will take place as well. Don’t miss out on the Installation of our newly elected elders, Brian Heuckroth, Dena Roper, Avery Smith, Valery Welch and Christine Woodward. Thank you to Rev. Dr. Alan Meyers, (Pastor Alan, to all of us!) for coordinating worship leadership, moderating session meetings and working with the Worship and Christian Education Committee as we move forward into 2022.

January worship Covid Update

Starting January 2, 2022 through the end of the month, Oak Hill will host on-line worship only. This decision was made at a specially called Session meeting on December 30, 2021. The Session will have its regular meeting on January 12 and at that time will reassess the local covid numbers and determine when we can safely return to in-person worship.

The Rev David Gerth, Executive Director , Metropolitan Congregations United (MCU) will be preaching January 2. Rev. Gerth has been the executive director of MCU since 2011. He is an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ. Before coming to MCU, he pastored churches in Indiana and Illinois. He is a member of St. John’s Church–the Beloved Community.

Fourth Sunday in Advent

Come celebrate of the birth of Christ with the children of our congregation on Sunday, December, 19, 2021, during morning worship.

Carols and Conversation help two young girls understand the mystery and joy of the birth of the newborn king in “Baby Jesus We Love you” “

We will be receiving the Christmas Joy Offering on December 19, as well. Envelopes are in the back of the sanctuary. “The Christmas Joy Offering opens doors of opportunity which lead to hopeful futures for young people at Presbyterian -related schools and colleges equipping communities of color and providing assistance to current and retired church workers in their time of need.

The Third Sunday in Advent

Join us Sunday, December 12, 2021 for our Christmas Cantata presented by members of our choir and congregation. So many folks with the gift of music, directed by our Minister of Music, Ms. Susan Brown.

Plan on joining us for Neighborhood Christmas Caroling for the St. Louis Christmas Carol Association from 2:00 – 3:30 PM on Sunday, as well. Hats and costumes encouraged and experience and actual singing ability is not required. Special thanks to Josh Smith and the Membership and Evangelism Committee for organizing this event!

We continue to social distance and wear masks while at church. Thank you for protecting our community.

Second Sunday in advent

Join us for worship this Second Sunday in Advent. The Rev. Dr. Alan Meyers will be leading us in worship which begins at 10:30 AM, in-person and on-line. In-person folks, while all of the red cushions are back in the pews, remember to social distance and to wear a mask. Masks are available in the back of the sanctuary and near the side entrance.

Plan now to attend the Christmas Cantata during worship on December 12th. Our children’s program will be December 19th. Both services begin at 10:30 AM.

First Sunday in Advent

Join us on Sunday, November 28, 2021.

The Rev. Dr. Alan Meyers will lead us in worship. We will be serving communion in a Covid safe manner with our tiny individual communion elements. Feel free to bring your own larger sized, easy to open communion elements. Folks at home are encouraged to join us with your own at home elements, which will be blessed virtually. The “Hanging of the Greens” will be happening. Don’t miss out!
